_Word From Kassien_

I wanted to take a moment and discuss Deep Shadows choice on not focusing on one city. Typical Shadowrun MUSHes have been centered around a single city. That city doesn't changed, is usually focused because of a specific reason. However, there is only so much that can be done in that city. Shadowrun is very diversified on the lore with geological, social and power dynamics across the globe. We want to build a MUSH which allows players to explore these issues.

Our grids will be built around RPing. The focus will be to have a mix between limited spaces for private areas, and not one place will be a focus on hanging out. By getting out and RPing the system will see this hotspot rooms with three or more players and reward them (with Karma or Nuyen) for being out.

Any typical private areas, apartments, houses, etc., will not be on the grid. There is exceptions to this. Some cities will have temporary "suites" type rooms for rent. they'll be short derations, and for only for larger group gatherings. IE. Private invite only auctions or meetings.

While players will be allowed to have owned buildings on the grid, they will be required to have at least one (1) room exposed to the public and if not used can be lost gor public access.

# The Sixth World: A Shadowrun Overview

This is a high-level overview of the Sixth World cities which Deep Shadows will focus on major North American sprawls relevant to play, including **Seattle, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Manhattan, and Miami**, while also acknowledging other key global cities. This by no means is a limited list. As Deep Shadows grows, there may be choices to grow into other cities.

---

## Geological Landscapes

The physical world of the Sixth World has been reshaped by climate collapse, magical phenomena, and corporate engineering. Nature did not vanish—it adapted, mutated, and in many places became hostile.

---

## Seattle Metroplex

Seattle is the archetypal Shadowrun city: rain-soaked, neon-lit, and politically fragmented.

- Temperate rainforest reclaimed abandoned districts.
- Volcanic and seismic instability reshaped surrounding lands.
- Arcologies dominate the skyline as sealed corporate environments.
- Barrens districts exist alongside heavily secured corporate zones.

Seattle balances strong magical presence with cutting-edge corporate technology, making it a focal point for shadow activity.

---

## Las Vegas

Las Vegas survives through artificial control rather than natural sustainability.

- Extreme desertification and water scarcity define the Mojave region.
- Climate-controlled casinos, domes, and arcologies dominate the Strip.
- Subterranean ley lines and geomantic manipulation cause mana irregularities.
- Luxury and decadence mask ruthless efficiency and surveillance.

Vegas is less a city and more a machine built to extract wealth, secrets, and leverage.

---

## Los Angeles Sprawl

Los Angeles never stopped expanding—it absorbed everything around it.

- Endless sprawl consumes deserts, suburbs, and old ruins.
- Smog is both chemically and magically tainted.
- Background count fluctuates due to emotional saturation and pollution.
- Hollywood functions as a global center for simsense and media warfare.

In Los Angeles, reality itself is curated, packaged, and sold.

---

## Manhattan (New York City)

Manhattan is dense, vertical, and layered atop centuries of infrastructure.

- Megatowers rise over sealed or flooded underground levels.
- Corporate enclaves and financial institutions dominate the skyline.
- Magical ley lines intersect beneath the island.
- Espionage, finance, and data warfare define daily life.

Power in Manhattan is measured in density, influence, and information.

---

## Miami

Miami exists at the edge of land and sea.

- Sea-level rise partially submerged large sections of the city.
- Wealthy districts rely on vertical construction and floating platforms.
- The Everglades are fully awakened and extremely dangerous.
- Smuggling routes connect Miami to the Caribbean and South America.

Miami blends magic, crime, and survival into a volatile mix.

---

## Political Intrigue

Traditional nation-states no longer dominate the Sixth World. Power belongs to those who can enforce it.

### Megacorporate Sovereignty

- AAA megacorporations operate as sovereign entities.
- Corporate extraterritoriality places corporate property outside local law.
- Justice, citizenship, and protection are corporate privileges.

### City-Level Power Dynamics

- **Seattle**: Tribal nations, megacorps, anarchist zones, and criminal syndicates.
- **Las Vegas**: Neutral ground for negotiations, laundering, and shadow diplomacy.
- **Los Angeles**: Cultural influence and media manipulation.
- **Manhattan**: Financial warfare and corporate espionage.
- **Miami**: Smuggling, piracy, and cartel influence.

### Other Key Shadowrun Cities

- **Berlin** — Anarchist Free State divided by gangs and ideologies.
- **Neo-Tokyo** — Corporate feudalism and omnipresent surveillance.
- **Hong Kong** — Corporate intrigue layered with spirits and Triads.
- **Boston** — Scarred by the former Lockdown Zone.

---

## Social Dynamics

Life in the Sixth World is defined by inequality, augmentation, and adaptation.

### Class and Lifestyle

- Corporate citizens live in secured enclaves with full AR integration.
- The SINless exist outside legal recognition.
- Barrens communities rely on gangs, mutual aid, or local power brokers.

### Metahumanity

- Humans, elves, dwarves, orks, and trolls coexist under systemic prejudice.
- Orks and trolls face widespread segregation and discrimination.
- Metahuman rights vary drastically by region and corporate interest.

### Magic and Technology

- Magic returned violently and without compromise.
- Cyberware and bioware coexist with shamanism and ritual magic.
- Cities lean differently:
  - Tech-heavy: Manhattan, Neo-Tokyo
  - Magic-present: Seattle outskirts, Miami, Amazonia

### Identity and Media

- Simsense addiction is widespread.
- Identity theft and forged SINs are common.
- Reputation and information function as currency.

## Summary

The Sixth World is:
- Urban-first
- Corporate-controlled
- Magically awakened
- Deeply unequal

Cities are nations. Shadows are livelihoods. Survival depends on knowing who owns the street you’re standing on.
